Program Description:

University of Waikato

Hamilton, New Zealand

New Zealand is a small yet mighty country located in the South Pacific. With a population of just 4.5 million people we are an uncrowded country, allowing you plenty of space to explore our beautiful landscapes and immerse yourself in our unique culture. The main University of Waikato campus is based in the vibrant multi-cultural city of Hamilton. Hamilton is the fourth largest city in New Zealand and also one of the fastest growing cities!

There are a variety of courses available there, so exchange students can enjoy the riches of New Zealand while working on their degrees at ETSU. The University of Waikato is a consistent climber in the most prestigious international rankings. We've risen 127 places in the QS World University Rankings in five years, and the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings brought us up to third equal in New Zealand.

Hamilton is conveniently located in the center of the North Island and is the perfect place to go exploring from. Beaches are just over an hour by car, our largest city Auckland a 90 minute drive north, and ski fields a 3 hour drive south. Popular day trips include a Mount Maunganui beach mission, hiking Mt Te Aroha or Hakarimate Summit Track, exploring Waitomo Caves or experiencing Middle-earth magic at Hobbiton.
