Ewha Womans University is the world’s largest female education institute and is the among the most prestigious universities in South Korea. Ewha offers an international Exchange Program for both male and female students. The name Ewha was bestowed by Emperor Gojong in 1887 to commemorate the beginning of women’s education in Korea. It serves not merely as a name of this time-honored institution but as a symbol of the tradition and spirit of women’s education in Korea. Many of the courses are taught in English, and there are ample opportunities to enjoy traditional and modern Korean culture in the city of Seoul. Ewha Womans College offers over 500 courses taught in English which constitutes around 30% of all courses offered. All classes offered in International Business and Economics along with International Law and Diplomacy are taught in English. Additionally, Ewha offers academic Korean Language classes for academic credit. Ewha bosts producing many women's firsts in Korean history and the university continues to be a leader in achedemia and research. Upon arrival, Ewha’s exchange students are supported by PEACE (Professional Ewhaians At Cultural Exchange) Buddies, who offer personalized support in helping them get acclimated to living in Korea.

Ewha Womans University is situated in the center of Seoul in the exciting Shinchon area, about 10 minutes by subway or bus from downtown Seoul, the capital and heart of the Republic of Korea. The population of international students at Ewha is over 800 (around 450 international exchange/visiting students and 400 international degree seeking students). Students will be immersed into an international environment where they can form bonds with peers from all over the world as well as Korean local students on campus. Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) is Korea’s largest underground campus. The ECC contains a library, bookstore, gym, movie theater, cafés and lecture rooms. The ECC is considered one of the most beautiful campus facilities in the world. The city of Seoul is surrounded by many beautiful mountains that are easily accessed for daily excursions. 

Requirements


 Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and have COMPLETED at least two years of undergraduate OR one semester of graduate studies. Here is a list of the courses offered at Ewha

ETSU Students must prove proficiency if they wish to take courses that are taught in Korean.
Students must meet the all minimum admissions requirements for the university: language proficiency, GPA, etc.

How It Works
– Application
You will first need to schedule an appointment with ETSU's study abroad coordinator. Once you have completed the ETSU requirements, you will work directly with Ewha. The application deadline for Ewha's fall semester is May 15, and the decision is usually made in June. 
– Cost
Thanks to the exchange program at ETSU, students can attend Ewha Womans University for the same tuition cost of attending ETSU’s main campus. Below is a table showing the fees paid to ETSU and Ewha

    • The exchange agreement requires you to pay 15 credit hours (though you are only required to 12 or more credit hours)

    • Single Room: 1,750,000- 2,870,000 KRW (cost in 2019)
      Double Room: 1,300,000- 1,920,000 KRW (cost in 2019)

Bank Statement:
  • The government requires international students to show proof of sufficient funds in the form of a bank statement (this is not unique to the country, the US government also requires this from incoming international students). This is to show that you are able to cover the fees in the “Other” column, as well as cover any unforeseen emergencies. If you are a dependent, you can provide a bank statement from a parent or guardian.
