Hanze University of Applied Sciences  PROGRAM CANCELLED
Groningen, Netherlands
Hanze University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of classes taught in English and German. Hanze UAS focuses on integrating applied research and innovation into their program and strives to help students become more aware of their social responsibility by doing hands-on work in addition to their classwork. With its long list of exchange partners, Hanze UAS also cultivates an international community in which students can begin to develop and make valuable contributions to society. Hanze University of Applied Sciences is practice orientated, so you will spend a great deal of time in hands-on educational settings along with your standard classroom lectures. The University has a wide assortment of equipment for use in these hands-on assignments as well as high-class faculty to help assist you in learning to use the equipment common in your field of study.

Groningen has a rich history for being the second oldest university town in the Netherlands and has continued to be a center for student activity. The city is loved by its inhabitants and offers a variety of opportunities to get out and explore both the city itself in all of its rich history as well as the vibrant urban musical culture that has developed in and around the city. Boasting a young and student heavy population, Groningen has several unique cultural opportunities including the Groningen museum of art as well as a comics museum and several others. There is no reason for students to stay shut indoors while staying in Groningen as they can join over half the city's commuters on bike to access large portions of the city specifically sectioned off from automotive traffic.
RepsHow It Works
– Cost
ETSU and Hanze UAS are exchange partners, so tuition is paid through ETSU and costs are comparable to 15 credit hours at ETSU's main campus.
– Lodging
Because Groningen is a student town, Hanze UAS advises students to begin searching for accommodations at least 3 months before departing. It is common for schools in the Netherlands to not have housing accommodations built on campus, so Hanze UAS utilizes a nonprofit service, SSH, to help international students find temporary accommodation at a reasonable price. Hanze UAS also offers other housing opportunities in the area.
– Travel
Groningen is easily accessed via public transportation from Amsterdam International airport. Alternatively, Hanze UAS offers a student pick up service free of charge, but you are still responsible for your own travel ticket (plane, train, etc.). You can view detailed directions on how to get the university on their webpage
